According to the CDC, in the US 26% of people experience a disability. Unfortunately, a lot of designs just aren’t useful, or usable for people who experience impairments or disabilities. Accessible design will always create a better, more useful design because people can first and foremost use the design, and because it cuts out the unnecessary barriers that lead to non-functional and frustrating experiences. It’s a design that considers the different paths people may take to access the valuable parts of a product based on their personal experiences, abilities, and impairments. An accessible design is a design where people can meet their goals, and use the design through methods that are comfortable and functional for them.
